What is this contract?

With an employment contract amendment agreement, the employer and employee change the terms of an existing employment contract without interrupting the employment. That is an important difference: the agreement is an ANNEX to the employment contract, not a new employment contract — length of service, the probationary period and all unchanged terms carry on. The employer generally cannot change the terms of the employment contract unilaterally, which is why a pay change, a change of position or a new place of work is formalised precisely as this kind of two-sided agreement. For each change, the form shows both the previous and the new value, so that the difference is unambiguous later.

What the contract covers

Frequently asked questions

Can the employer change wages unilaterally?

Generally not. Changing the terms of an employment contract requires the consent of both parties, which is exactly what this agreement records.

Does a change require a new employment contract?

No. The agreement is an annex to the existing employment contract and the employment continues without interruption — concluding a new contract would needlessly break the length of service.

Can several terms be changed at once?

Yes. The form lets you choose wages, position, working time and place of work at the same time and deals with each as a separate clause.
